The benefits of the Bambach for Spinal Cord Injury

The Bambach will aid in improving muscle tone, enhancing rehabilitation and quality of life

Spinal Cord Injury

The benefits of the Bambach for Stroke Rehabilitation

The Bambach can assist in rehabilitation and improve moblility, function and independence following a stroke

Stroke Rehabilitation

The benefits of the Bambach Traumatic Brain Injury

The Bambach addresses abnormal muscle tone and improves function and independence

Traumatic Brain Injury

The benefits of the Bambach for Work Related Upper Limb Disorder

Improved posture on the Bambach improves upper limb performance and alleviates aches and pains in the workplace. With the pelvis and spine in their natural, neutral position, the shoulders and arms are relaxed and the hands do not have to act at or near the end range of movement which enables more accuracy and minimal fatigue.

Advantages of The Bambach Saddle Seat in Rehabilitation

  • The Bambach Saddle Seat allows the spine to function in its optimal, balanced axis with the natural curve and the muscles under minimal stress.
  • The Bambach Saddle Seat is ergonomically constructed so that the pelvis is both correctly balanced and stable.
  • Through easy height adjustment, the Bambach Saddle Seat permits stable positioning of the feet on the floor, and, together with open position of the legs that it naturally produces guarantees free and controlled movements.
  • The Bambach Saddle Seat allows finely tuned balance between shoulders, neck and head and permits undisturbed position reflexes, optimal visual overview and enhanced use of the hands.
  • The 'open' position of the hips when seated on a Bambach Saddle Seat fosters improved blood circulation.
  • The Bambach Saddle Seat is comfortable and provides a wide range of adjustments to help the individual find the 'natural' sitting position.
  • The Bambach Saddle Seat prevents functional problems and potential damage which could be caused by work positions that restricts movements.

The musculoskeletal system and The Bambach Saddle Seat

The position of the body in balance

The upright standing position is physiologically highly efficient and allows the spine to assume its natural 'S' shaped posture. In this position minimal strain is placed on the vertebrae and inter-vertebral discs and the muscles are acting in a balanced way.

A good sitting posture will therefore maintain the 'S' shapes spinal curves normally present in the standing position.

  • Musculoskeletal System

On a flat seat the pelvis rocks backwards, changing the natural 'S' shape of the spine to a 'C'.

  • Musculoskeletal System

With the pelvis in its natural forward position, the lumbar spine assumes its natural 'S' shape.

  • Musculoskeletal System

The Saddle Seat allows the pelvis to adopt its natural position which, in turn, maintains the natural 'S' shape of the spine.

Conventional flat seats cannot prevent postural collapse. Due to a lack of pelvic support and tension around the hip joint, prolonged sitting on a flat seat will result in the pelvis rocking backwards into a posterior tilt position.

Due to the phenomenon of pelvic lumbar rhythm this results in the flattening of the lumbar lordosis (curve) and the assumption of a 'C' shaped spinal posture. This leads to abnormal loading of the vertebrae and inter-vertebral discs.

When sitting on a Bambach Saddle Seat, the reduced hip flexion required, along with pelvic support provided by ergonomically designed saddle, ensures that the pelvis can be maintained in its neutral position.

This prevents the pelvis from rocking back and allows the spine to maintain in its optimal 'S' shaped position.
